A Record-Breaking Architectural Marvel

Located in the center of New York City’s Theater District at 219 West 48th St., the Walter Kerr Theatre holds a unique place in Broadway history. Originally named The Ritz Theatre, its construction was completed in just 66 days in early 1921— a world record at the time. The stunning venue remains a testament to Post-World War I architecture, distinguished by its intricate patterned brick design. Later, during the Great Depression, The Ritz Theatre became a hub for The Federal Theatre Project’s productions and an important location for early television broadcasts.
